Fall Bucket List

Which is your favorite season? There are pros and cons for every season, and personally, I’m glad to get to experience them all where I live (in central Utah).

Even still, fall (autumn) is one of my favorite times of the year because it has my favorite weather (typically 55-65* and a little crisp where I live!) and it’s the beginning of all the most fun times of the year!

This year we’re seeing a colder and rainier fall, but we made a short Fall Bucket List as a family, and we’ve still been enjoying crossing the items off the list. Here are 7 things my family is doing to make the most of fall this year!

1. See the changing leaves up the canyon

On a nice, warm day, we ventured up the canyon for a little walk. Holly seemed to like all the dogs that passed us more than she liked the leaves, but Russ and I definitely enjoyed the scenery :)

2. Go Apple Picking

Apparently we actually missed picking season, but the owner at Rocky Top Fruit Farm let us look for both apples and raspberries and we came away with just what we needed! Holly looked like the prime suspect at a crime scene after picking (and eating) so many raspberries!

3. Bake an apple crumble

Russ and Ada used the apples they picked to make a seriously delicious apple crumble. I’m honestly not the biggest fan of cooked apples, and I still can’t stop eating this stuff because it’s THAT good!! I wish I would have gotten a picture of Ada helping Russ, because it was the cutest thing :)

4. Paint pumpkins

Maybe someday we’ll carve them, but for now, painting is all this mess-hating mama can handle :D

5. Get apple cider donuts from Rowley’s Red Barn

It’s been in the back of my mind to go to Rowley’s Red Barn for quite some time now, so we put it on our bucket list and finally made it happen! There were so many other fun things in their store that we ended up walking away with a lot more than just the [delicious] donuts. At the top of everyone’s list was the apple juice/cider! :)

6. Go to Jaker’s Pumpkin Patch

We have this great pumpkin patch right in our town, and we love going every year! We haven’t made it yet because of all the rain lately, but we’ll go sometime in the next couple weeks when the sun is shining!

7. Have a spooky Halloween dinner

I saw this tradition of having a Halloween dinner where you cook and/or name the food to be more spooky, so we’re going to try it out this year! I’m thinking we’ll do spaghetti and eyeballs (meatballs) and bone breadsticks (breadsticks tied in knots at the end), along with banana ghosts and pumpkins made from oranges. We’ll see what else we come up with! For ease, we won’t be doing it on Halloween night, but rather sometime before October ends!

I sure love this family of mine, and I love planning special little outings to make day-to-day life more exciting :)

What does your family like to do in the fall? Maybe we’ll add it to our bucket list next year!
